About Discover Kalispell

Discover Kalispell, the Kalispell Convention & Visitor Bureau, is a destination marketing and stewardship organization. As a division of the Discover Kalispell Chamber it is funded through Kalispell’s share of the 8% state accommodations tax (Bed Tax) and the $4/rm night Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) fee. Discover Kalispell is governed by Kalispell Chamber Board of Directors and the Montana Tourism Advisory Council that approves the allocation of the bed tax funds, and the Kalispell TBID Board of Directors and the Council of the City of Kalispell that approves the allocation of the TBID funds.

The annual Discover Kalispell marketing plan serves to direct the initiatives and spending for the CVB and TBID and inform and educate the board of directors, community stakeholders, Tourism Advisory Council and the City of Kalispell.

Discover Kalispell and the Kalispell Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID)

Discover Kalispell is a Destination Marketing and Destination Stewardship organization. We serve to build a strong year-round tourism economy which supports local businesses and to participate in a multi-stakeholder approach to maintain the cultural, environmental and economic integrity of Kalispell.

This is accomplished through the following strategies:

  • Thriving with Intention – strategic marketing campaigns, shifting visitor services to meet the needs of today’s traveler and our community, and supporting diversity and inclusivity for all travelers to Kalispell.
  • Community Stewardship – shifting away from the traditional role of solely marketing the destination, grant program to support local events and development of community assets, and promoting local business and guided adventures.
  • Stronger Together – partnerships to promote 18-hour vibrancy and walkability through the heart of the city, partnerships with public land and recreation managers for cohesive messaging to visitors, and advocacy for the hospitality and tourism industry.
  • Recreate Responsibly – build an inclusive outdoors, make it better – volunteer, donate and advocate for the outdoors, respect and protect the land, water, wildlife and Native communities, be a kind and responsible traveler.

Indoor Sports Facility Market Opportunity Report

Exploring the feasibility of a best-of-class indoor sports facility to serve the needs of local sports user groups in Kalispell and the Flathead Valley, and to enable Kalispell to attract sports tourism to bolster the local economy year-round.

The Kalispell TBID contracted with the Sports Facilities Companies through a competitive RFP process to gather community input and perform analysis for a Market Opportunity Report and Facility Program and Opinion of Cost report.

These reports are the start of the process to bring the needs for an indoor sports facility to fruition which will require partnerships, funding and vision. If interested in more information or to be involved in the next stages of the process please contact Diane Medler at [email protected].
