When it comes to planning a meeting, you look for a space that’s inspiring, unique and provides everything you need to help your team learn, grow and leave energized. Inspiration is welcomed especially as we evolve with the new changes in the meeting industry and world. Here in Northwest Montana, we know there’s never an end to learning and that you can always go back to school. Especially with a meeting location like the Northwest Montana History Museum.

Built in 1894 as Kalispell’s first school, Central School was a place of learning for elementary, high school and college students for nearly 100 years. Today it is home to the Northwest Montana History Museum and provides education for visitors, meeting attendees and guests who want to learn more about local history. It’s also one of the few remaining buildings in Montana built in classic Richardsonian Romanesque architecture and it still has its original wood floors and tin-plate ceiling.

Located in downtown Kalispell, the museum combines the charming city’s rich past with two distinguished meeting rooms inside its brick and stone walls. The Northwest Montana History Museum also has smaller rooms—including a conference room—for breakout sessions or team discussions. Plus, it’s located a short walk or drive from many of Kalispell’s hotels, making it a convenient and unique location to host your meeting.

Both meeting rooms — the Swanberg Classroom and Hollensteiner-Stahl Hall — are 1,000 square feet each and sit on the second floor of the museum. Each room has a distinct design and historic architecture—including an 1890’s carved wooden bar—and can be set up in a variety of ways, including classroom style, traditional round-table seating and for lectures. As an added bonus, your meeting attendees can peruse the exhibits during breaks and come back refreshed, thoughtful and inspired.

And if your meeting or convention is taking place at one of Kalispell’s flagship hotels or larger meeting properties, the Northwest Montana History Museum is an easily accessible location for focused team discussions, hands-on trainings and evening receptions.
