While she was raised in the northwest, after a season as a ski instructor on Montana’s slopes, Kim knew that Kalispell was the place for her. With a high regard for the outdoors, an active lifestyle and the year-round recreation available in northwest Montana, Kim has found a perfect fit in Kalispell.
DISCOVERY TIPS
Grab your hiking shoes or a mountain bike to hit the trails of Lone Pine State Park or Herron Park.
Head to Moose’s Saloon to plan the next day’s adventure over some sauerkraut pizza!
“What originally brought me to this area was the beautiful mountains, lakes and rivers easily accessible right in our backyard. I love that northwest Montana allows you to be active and fish year-round. No matter what experience level, there’s something for everyone.”

Tell us a little bit about you and how you came to Kalispell.
Growing up in Spokane, Washington, gave me a great appreciation for the outdoors, so I took a year off and followed my love for skiing, taking a job on a whim as a ski instructor on Big Mountain. After a season here, I quickly realized I wanted to make this beautiful place my forever home, so after finishing grad school in Seattle, I found my way back to Montana and am now working as a dentist in Kalispell. In addition to skiing, I fill my time off with backpacking, mountain biking and river trips.
Tell us your three favorite things about our mountain town.
There’s so much to love in Kalispell, but a few are summer soccer and softball leagues, access to rafting, skiing, hiking and Glacier National Park, as well as locally owned breweries and unique downtown shops and restaurants.
If you have a free afternoon, what do you spend it doing?
In the summer I’ll head out to nearby hiking trails, ending the day at a local brewery with friends. In the winter you’ll usually find me on the ski slopes!
