Experience the renowned Red Buses, an exceptional means to explore and discover Glacier National Park. These vintage buses from the 1930s hold a significant place in the park’s human history and cultural heritage. Given the park’s predominantly vertical landscapes, the retractable tops of these buses offer unparalleled panoramic views of the majestic mountains and the park’s renowned Big Sky. Our knowledgeable guides, passionate about the park, are seasoned experts eager to share their love for Glacier with visitors.
With a fleet of 33 buses, Glacier boasts the world’s oldest touring vehicles. However, it’s important to note that due to their historical significance, the seats on the Red Buses are not designed to meet the standards of modern buses. Seating 16 passengers, with bench seats accommodating four people per row, the quarters are cozy with limited space. As the Red Bus tours are consistently in high demand, please understand that ample room for stretching out may not be available.
If a guest wants to book an ADA/wheelchair accessible tour, we have ADA vans available, but they are not the historic Red Buses. Each ADA van has 12 seats and space for two wheelchairs, so they can hold a maximum of 14 passengers. The ADA vans have a lift and meet all the ADA requirements on the interior.
For guest who are hearing impaired, we offer a Visual Companion Guide, which is a mile-by-mile guide (with some pictures in included) of the road that the tour follow. The guest will be able to read a description of what the driver will be discussing and pointing out.
