Places to Go

Located 32 miles from Kalispell is Glacier National Park. Fondly referred to as the Crown of the Continent, the park has 1 million acres of glacier-sculpted landscapes, including waterfalls, high alpine lakes, streams, snow-covered mountains and 734 miles of trails. There are many areas of the park, including the North Fork, Lake McDonald, Cut Bank Creek, Goat Haunt, Two Medicine and Many Glacier, as well as the Going-to-the-Sun Road. At 52 miles long, the Going-to-the-Sun Road connects the park’s west entrance with the east entrance at St. Mary, cresting the Continental Divide at Logan Pass.

Visiting Montana’s Glacier National Park in 2024? Here’s what you need to know. And if you don’t have a vehicle reservation to get into the park, here are 7 ways to play in Glacier National Park without one.

Accessible ADA information: Keep an eye out for scenic pullouts along the Going-to-the Sun Road. One not-to-be-missed stop: McDonald Falls. Located approximately 12 miles from the park’s west entrance, this is also where you can access Trail of the Cedars, a beautiful 1-mile scenic loop on a wide wooden boardwalk.

The park’s shuttles are also ADA accessible, while many of the ranger-led evening programs are held in venues that are accessible for individuals with a mobile disability. Venues include Apgar Campground amphitheater, Fish Creek Campground amphitheater, Lake McDonald Lodge auditorium, Many Glacier Campground auditorium, Many Glacier Hotel auditorium, Rising Sun Campground amphitheater and St. Mary Visitor Center auditorium.
