Driving to Kalispell

Interstate 90 passes through the city of Missoula 115 miles south of Kalispell. From Missoula, U.S. 93 heads north to Kalispell paralleling the impressive Mission Mountain Range and beautiful shore of Flathead Lake.

Coming from the west on I-90, turn off at St. Regis, Montana. Follow Hwy. 135 through St. Regis to Hwy. 200. Turn left on Hwy. 200 towards Plains. At the entrance to Plains turn right on Hwy. 28, follow through Hot Springs continuing until you come upon a spectacular vista of Flathead Lake. At the intersection of Hwy. 28 and Hwy. 93, in Elmo, turn left. Hwy. 93 will lead you through the west shore towns of Dayton, Rollins, Lakeside, Somers then into Kalispell.

U.S. Hwy. 2 — known as the Hi-Line — is the main east-west route across Montana's northern tier and passes through downtown Kalispell.

Entering from Alberta into the northwest corner of Montana you will cross at either Del Bonita, Carway or Coutts/Sweetgrass (open 24 hours) then head around the east border of Glacier National Park down to Kalispell. You'll find plenty to do in Kalispell's walkable historic downtown but to discover all that Kalispell and the Flathead Valley have to offer a rental car is recommended.  Rental cars are available at the airport and off-site locations. Several local auto dealers also have vehicles to rent and the Kalispell area also has Turo, Uber and Lyft.
